BiographyHashimoto Okiie graduated from Ueno Art School of Tokyo in 1924, having specialized in Western art-oil painting, water colors and pastels. He became an art teacher at one of Tokyo’s public schools but it wasn’t until 1932 that he began to produce prints under the guiding influence and tutelage of Hiratsuka. Hashimoto’s art is a continuation of the tradition of ukiyo-e simplified and revitalized.
