DescriptionDecorated with lacquer and cut-gold (kirikane) in Greek key design. Figure holds a long shakujo or staff in right hand, with pagoda-chaped head from which hang four loose metal rings. The sacred gem in the palm of his left hand. Has a bold head, long earlobes, urna on forehead, closed or downcast eyes. Robe crosses from left shoulder to right hip, leaving most of the upper part of the body bare. Long sleeves, a decorated band down the center and on borders. On a double lotus pedestal on double octagonal plinth.On View
