Description

The devil as an itinerant holy man striking a gong and asking for alms. Demon with bushu black hair and two projecting horns; orange flesh tints; round protruding eyes; three stiff whiskers on left, four on right. Black top robe over white, round gong suspended on breast. Right hand doubled up to strike gong, left hand holding red cord drawstring of recangular white bag. An umbrella attached to back, top showing behind right shoulder, lower part and handle on left. On gray-brown ground with crackled pinkish-brown mount. Lower right corner of painting missing. Ivory ends to rollers.
