BiographyBorn December 28, 1902, in Ehime Prefecture, on the southern island of Shikoku; now lives in Tokyo. After graduating from elementary school, worked for two years as a merchant seaman before turning to art. Received instruction at different times from Kobayashi Mango and Hiratsuka Un’ichi and , later, from Onchi Koshiro and Maekawa Sempan. Worked for the government printing office for three years and also spent a year in Manchuria. Also does illustrations and writes. Loves mountain climbing.
