Description“Millefleurs” tapestry depicting Semiramis, Queen of Assyria and Babylon, combing her hair in front of a mirror held by an attendant. Semiramis stands at center combing her blond hair. Attendant holds mirror to the left of Queen. Second attendant to the right of Queen kneels with long spear on one shoulder, right arm extended toward Queen and holding a letter. Background covered with variety of flowers. Inscription at center top reads “I was Semiramis, Queen of Babylon. I conquered barbarians, Indians, and Syrians. I went into the north and set my throne there and slew the king of the Ethiopians.”
