DescriptionAppliqued and quilted bed cover, red on white ground. Design is “Na Kalaunu me na Kahili “ (Crowns and Kahili). Center medallion made up of four large kahili designs pointing out toward the corners of the quilt. In the center are four crown set in the interspaces between the kahili. A separate narrow red border of stylized foliate forms pointing inward. Written in on the back: M. S. Rice/KAHILI/1886.
