Descriptiona) Illustration; b) cover. Frontispiece: painting in gold and silver on blue paper. In center is Buddha, seated on a lotus pedestal with head and body halo, right palm out, left palm in. Disciple and Bodhisattva seated on either side. Below, in lower left are three seated disciples, and on right are two officials. Center, below: draped table with incense burner. Above are two islands with trees in gold with silver wavees. Text in gold in ruled silver columns. Back of frontispiece: foliated peony scroll design on silver ground in blue with gold lines. Eight-character title in gold on blue at upper left. Cover: woven split bamboo; wide, narrow bands with pattern. Brocade border with brass butterflies in corners. Wooden tab with gilt characters. Colors: brown bamboo, gree, blue. Brocade in faded pink and green. Tie: diagonally woven diamond pattern, greens and browns.On View
