DescriptionHorizontal composition with armored calvary of Genji and Minamoto clan (with white banners) plugging through turbulent waters from left to attack three barges loaded with fleeing armored soldiers of the Heike or Taira clan (with red banners). There is a conventional, theatrical pine tree in left foreground, with stylized bands of solid light blue clouds, reminiscent of Yamato-e style, above, below, and right center.
