"The retaineer (Yakko) who held the standard (Yari) of his lord, who always took the lead. Thus the drawing of this figure probably signified pride of pffice without actual rank or power."

Painting shows man with two swords in belt, wearing short belted black tunic, black leggings; carries on red pole an irregular early 19th century shaped standard. Lines of calligraghy and touches of red.
