Itō BenJapanese, 1917 - 1992
Born 1917 in Shizuoka prefecture. Original name Itö Ben; changed in 1977. Member of group which published Yükari in 1935; founding member of Shizuoka Hanga Kyökai; member of Nihon Hanga Kyökai from 1951 and Kokugakai. Represented at various international shows in Israel, U.S., Switzerland, and elsewhere in 1950s. For 5 years beginning in 1969 experimented with new techniques and exhibited only in private shows. Hanga printed with oil pigments and sometimes employ stencils.
