Takeuchi KeishūJapanese, 1861 - 1943

Son of a samurai in service of a lord of Kii province. Given name Ginpei. Studied Japanese-style painting with Tsukioka Yoshitoshi. Joined Ken’yüsha (Friends of the Inkstone), a literary group, and illustrated works by many of the group’s members. Many illustrations for adult and children’s magazines.
