Hashimoto ChikanobuJapanese, 1838 - 1912
Born in Takada, Niigata prefecture. Original name Hashimoto Chikanobu, also known as Yöshü Chikanobu. Became minor member of shogun’s government. After Meiji Restoration studied under Toyohara Kunichika and took his surname. Specialized in newspaper illustrations and woodblock prints of historical subjects and women and children.
