Terasaki KōgyōJapanese, 1866 - 1919
Born in Akita. Moved to Tokyo in 1888. Taught at Tokyo School of Fine Arts under Okakura Tenshin and left with him to found Nihon Bijutsuin. Returned to Tokyo School of Fine Arts after Okakura retired. Principally a painter but designed mokuhan bijin-ga, kachö, and Russo-Japanese War prints. Often used the name Sözan (also pronounced Shüzan ) on prints.
