Hashimoto KankaiJapanese, born 1899

Hashimoto Kankai (橋本 寛海, b. 1899) was born and lived in Hyōgo Prefecture. He studied painting under Miyake Kōhaku 三宅凰白 (1893–1957) . He worked as an independent Nihonga painter. He was a member of the Japan Ink Painting Society (Zen nihon suibokuga kyōkai 全日本水墨画協会, see Entry D4), and he received awards for artwork he displayed at exhibitions sponsored by the prefectural and municipal government.
