Ibuki Sensekiborn 1889

Ibuki Senseki (伊吹蘚石, b. 1889) was also known as Aoki Kōjirō 青木幸治郎. He was born in Kyoto. His woodblock prints were published by the pre-war publisher Happōdō 八宝堂. His woodblock prints, which he designed, carved, and printed by himself, are remembered for their excellent craftsmanship. One publication of his artwork includes commentary by Ema Tsutomu (江間務, written also as 絵馬務, 1884-1979). He studied Nihonga painting under Ikai Shōkoku (猪飼嘯谷, 1881–1939) and Taniguchi Kokyo (谷口香嶠, 1864–1915). He taught painting at the Kyoto City School of Arts and Crafts.
